Have you ever been out in the backcountry, at night, headlamp ready to go, only to find the batteries are dead? No big deal, because you should be carrying spares with you. But now you have to figure out how the hell to get the damn battery compartment open (or wait for someone on trail to help you figure it out like me), and then pack out the used batteries. Well, I’m here to tell you that BioLite’s new HeadLamp 330 fixes all of this frustration. And looks good doing it!
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the new headlamp and I’m really impressed with it. It comes in four fun colors and packs a maximum 330 lumens. That’s 30 lumens more than my previous battery powered headlamp. The 330 also boasts a red light for those late night pee breaks while in camp! God, I love a red light. Especially if I’m the one sleeping because red light doesn’t show through your eyelids, allowing the sleeper to remain asleep.

Technically speaking, this headlamp is a beauty! Weighing in at only 69g (compared to my other headlamp at 91g) with a front profile of only 9mm, you’ll want to wear this headlamp all day long. Oh, and did I mention it’s rechargeable? Simply plug it in using the included USB chord, and you’re good to go for up to 40 hours. No more batteries. No more hassle. Just a really good looking, low profile headlamp. And, it tilts to boot!
I used to dread having to wear my headlamp for extended periods of time because it would give me a terrible headache. Well, I’m happy to report that the BioLite HeadLamp 330 did no such thing! The lighter weight, super soft moisture wicking band and lower profile design sat perfectly on my forehead and never applied extra pressure.

The only thing my other headlamp does better is that it’s waterproof; a feature I have never had to use in the past. With that said, I’m switching from a “diamond” to a product from a carbon neutral company on a mission to bring “Energy Everywhere.”
