If you run away from the wolf, you may meet a bear.

We hit the road around 6:30am from Salt Lake City, heading to West Yellowstone, Montana. It would be our one and only day in the state! 96% of Yellowstone National Park is located in the beautiful state of Wyoming; despite what the TV show might have you think.
After half a day in the car driving past some breathtaking landscapes, we arrived at our destination: The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. Rusty and I both have a tremendous love for wolves, so it was a no-brainer for us to stop here on our way into the Park.
I was surprised to find that not only did they have bears and wolves, but also birds, ground squirrels and otters (I love otters). So that was a nice surprise as we had only anticipated seeing the grizzlies and wolves.

After leaving the Discovery Center, we walked around town a bit, stopped in at the cutest little bookstore, and headed to the “adult” Bullwinkle’s. For those of you that grew up in Southern California, you may remember the Bullwinkle’s fun centers we frequented as kids. Well, this one is a bar. So, if you ever find yourself in West Yellowstone, definitely check it out!
The evening forecast called for thunder showers. And since we had planned to boondock in the GFC Superlite RTT, this made us a little nervous. Did we decide to camp? Or bail and get a hotel room? You know the drill! Watch the YouTube Video to see what we decided!
